EDITOR'S REVIEW
Beyoğlu Şaraphanesi brings what it describes as more than 250 boutique Turkish wines into a multi-storey historic building on Sofyalı Street, with a terrace, fireplace and food menu. Staff guidance on choosing a glass or bottle makes Turkish wines more approachable for newcomers. The evening changes by floor: the indoor room is calmer and focused on dining, while the terrace is more open to live music and social gatherings.
Jazz, piano, live acoustic sets and gentle selections suited to a conversation over wine. The terrace becomes markedly livelier on certain nights. Jazz Night, piano trios and live recording or set nights on the terrace are part of the programme; ask about the stage schedule for your visit when booking, as the weekly timetable may change.
Warm and conversation-friendly indoors, peaceful by the fireplace; livelier and more musical on the terrace.
A multi-storey city wine house bringing boutique Turkish wines together with fusion cuisine, a terrace, a fireplace, tasting gatherings and spaces for private events.
Wine enthusiasts, couples, small groups of friends, corporate gatherings, special-occasion dinners and international visitors keen to discover Turkish producers.
Dressy-casual works well. Layers suited to the season are useful on the terrace, while a more classic evening style fits the indoor room.
Beyoğlu Şaraphanesi's stone and brick walls, together with bottle shelves among plants, create a warm setting. Pasta dishes arrive beside the wine glasses on yellow-lit wooden tables. In one corner, the ensemble playing saxophone, guitar and drums stays close to the guests. A red sign and framed pieces on the walls are details of this intimate setting for food and music.
Beyoğlu Şaraphanesi is highly regarded for special evenings thanks to its extensive wine selection, chic and romantic atmosphere, and carefully prepared dishes. Wine recommendations, friendly service, and dishes such as marinated sea bass, ravioli, pasta, and shrimp are praised in most reviews. The terrace offers a more spacious setting conducive to conversation, while the indoor area provides a more romantic ambiance. Some visitors may find the portions small, the menu limited, and the prices high. Although food quality can vary from dish to dish, overall satisfaction is distinctly positive. Specifying a preference for the smoking or non-smoking section when booking and asking the staff for wine pairing recommendations can enhance the experience.
