EDITOR'S REVIEW
On the top floor of the InterContinental Istanbul, City Lights brings sweeping Bosphorus and Historic Peninsula views together with signature cocktails, international cuisine, and live music. Uninterrupted panoramas and hotel-level service suit both an elegant dinner and a lively lounge evening where conversation remains easy.
Early in the evening, the sound leans toward lounge, soul, and soft house; later, it can move to more rhythmic live music or DJ sets. Live performances and DJs are scheduled on selected evenings, while other nights keep a lounge playlist. Performance dates vary with the season and special events.
The indoor-outdoor lounge on the InterContinental's N floor offers a broad panorama of the Bosphorus and Historic Peninsula. The open terrace stays bright at sunset; the dim cocktail bar inside retains a comfortable table layout even during live music.
A city lounge on a panoramic hotel terrace, bringing a restaurant, accomplished cocktail bar, wine service, and evening entertainment together on one upper floor.
InterContinental guests, international visitors to Istanbul, professionals stopping for after-work cocktails, and couples meeting with a view. Small groups celebrating birthdays or anniversaries at a quieter table are also a noticeable part of the crowd.
Business casual or polished smart casual suits the hotel bar: shirts, dresses, tailored trousers, and well-chosen city outfits. Beachwear and very sporty items are best avoided.
At City Lights Bar, broad windows bring the water and city into the room. It is a pleasure to encounter this open view after the curved wooden corridor. In the evening, as plates and glasses take their places on the tables, the city's lights emerge outside. The window-side setting invites you to linger over the panorama.
City Lights Bar receives praise—particularly from couples on romantic dates and groups of friends—for its commanding view of Istanbul, chic atmosphere, cocktails, food, and DJ performances. While many visitors find the service attentive and professional, they also view the availability of a smoking area as an advantage. However, some reviews criticize the lack of advance disclosure regarding parking or valet fees, the imposition of minimum spending requirements for reservations, and the high prices. There are also those dissatisfied with the attitude of certain staff members during special events—such as marriage proposals—or who find the live music volume excessive. The general impression is that the view and ambiance are excellent, though it is advisable to inquire about pricing policies beforehand.
