EDITOR'S REVIEW
Lala Bar turns its small space amid the crowds of Sofyalı Street into a warm exchange between musicians and guests. Requests and regulars give this modest but lively live-music bar a more personal feel than a large stage.
Live Turkish songs range from 1990s pop to arabesk and familiar meyhane favourites. With musicians close to the guests, requests and singalongs come naturally. On live nights, singers focus on Turkish pop and arabesk plus guest requests; similar bar playlists play between performances. Performance days can change weekly.
The narrow room has a small performance corner, closely spaced tables and stools, warm low lighting and a simple bar. Seats by the door face Sofyalı Street's steady pedestrian traffic. On full nights, every indoor table feels close to the stage.
A compact street pub pairing cocktails and beer with close-up live Turkish music. The indoor performance space and a few Sofyalı-facing tables let guests choose between listening and streetside conversation.
People who want seated live Turkish pop and arabesk, couples planning a music night with food in Asmalımescit and groups of friends.
Casual clothes suit the intimate bar. A loose shirt, jeans, simple skirt or comfortable shoes are enough; formal dress is not needed for live music.
Lala Bar is widely appreciated in Beyoğlu for its small, cozy atmosphere, regular live music, and friendly management. Regulars frequently praise the live performances—which feature a repertoire dominated by Turkish music—as well as the willingness to play song requests, the cocktails, and the complimentary treats. The staff are described as polite, attentive, and hospitable, while prices are generally considered reasonable or average. The venue's small size can lead to significant noise—especially when combined with competing music from outside—making conversation difficult. While some visitors found the music style disjointed and the prices high, these views do not define the overall impression. It appears to be a suitable spot for an intimate evening featuring live music, where the focus is on conversation rather than high-energy activity.
