EDITOR'S REVIEW
Ottomania brings traditional-looking décor together with Bosphorus views, hookah and a wide café menu in central Üsküdar. Seating on several upper floors offers space for both view-seekers and long conversations, with a modern, group-friendly service style.
Current Turkish pop, gentle lounge tracks and occasional traditional motifs play quietly beneath conversation. Pop and lounge remain the daytime background; there is no regular live stage or fixed DJ program. Broadcasts or celebrations on special days may alter the setup.
Dark wood furniture, copper-toned ornaments, patterned cushions, colored glass lamps and wide windows fill the venue. Higher floors reveal more of Üsküdar’s rooftops and the Bosphorus; evening lights warm the traditional-style décor.
An Ottoman-inspired city café serving hookah, coffee, desserts, breakfast and hot meals on upper floors with a view. The kitchen and hookah service run continuously from early hours into the night.
Üsküdar regulars, friends who enjoy hookah, local and international visitors looking for a view and families at breakfast. Younger groups become more common later in the evening.
Everyday clothes such as jeans, sweater, T-shirt and walking shoes are fine. No special outfit is needed when combining the visit with a walk along Üsküdar’s waterfront.
Ottomania Üsküdar is appreciated for its location near the ferry terminal, the direct Bosphorus view from the upper floor, and its signature watermelon-served hookah. The attentive staff, the quality of the drinks, and the seating arrangements suitable for groups have received positive feedback. Experiences regarding the hookah vary; some find the flavor weak. More serious criticisms concern being served a more expensive hookah than ordered, diluted drinks, a fruit platter that lacked freshness, cocktails revealed to be non-alcoholic only after the fact, and very slow service. The view is by far the venue's strongest asset; it is advisable to clearly confirm hookah varieties and drink details when ordering.
