Şahika Upperground is a distinctive venue sustaining Beyoğlu's alternative-music spirit around Nevizade and İstiklal. Several floors above the meyhane scene, it gives people a friendly place to hear independent music and dance freely.
WHO IT SUITS
A good fit for those who want to hear independent bands live and dance for hours in a crowd to electronic or indie sets. It is not arranged for people seeking a luxury box or entertainment centred on current Turkish pop.
HIGHLIGHTS
Providing a stage for independent music and an inclusive, relaxed environment are its main strengths. Its central Nevizade location also makes it easy to reach from different parts of the city.
NOTE
It shares a building with Şahika Pub and Meyhane downstairs; the upper floors are reached by narrow, steep stairs. Busy events can feel hot and poorly ventilated, so wear light layers that are easy to remove.
GETTING THERE
It is at Nevizade Sokak No:5 in Hüseyinağa Mahallesi. From M2 Taksim, walk along İstiklal Caddesi and through Balık Pazarı beside Çiçek Pasajı; from M2 Şişhane, walk toward Galatasaray High School and cross Balık Pazarı to Nevizade. Either route takes about 5–10 minutes.
