EDITOR'S REVIEW
Vohu combines the familiarity of a café with frequent stand-up and an open-mic workshop atmosphere. New performers and touring comedians refining their sets can share the same small room, making each visit different.
Soft alternative and acoustic tracks play at conversational volume during café hours. Music is lowered for stand-up, with brief entrances between acts. Check the current calendar for open mics, mixed bills and solo shows.
Warm lamps, home-style armchairs, small café tables and a low stage with one microphone make the room feel like a living room. Soft colors and tightly arranged seats put the comedian close to the audience.
A café by day and a flexible room for stand-up, small-scale theatre, talks and acoustic events by night. Comedy Lab and independent comedy teams take over on different days.
Kadıköy residents who follow open mics and independent comedy, aspiring first-time performers and friends who like stand-up in a small room.
Comfortable streetwear suits the intimate, living-room-like setting: sweater, T-shirt, jeans, casual dress and low shoes work for both café and show.
Vohu Cafe is highly acclaimed for its quiet side-street location, warm welcome, and selection of coffee and desserts. Standout items include apple cake, hot chocolate, watermelon-based drinks, salep, and various desserts; the owner’s local recommendations give visitors a real sense of being at home. The iced latte and pomegranate cheesecake did not please everyone. Stand-up nights should be considered separately: some audience members found the content offensive and weak, and the cigarette smoke indoors caused discomfort. The café experience itself is notably strong; however, regarding the shows, it would be wise to research the comedians and the smoking policy beforehand.
