EDITOR'S REVIEW
Founded by Panayot Papadulos in 1898, Pano continues Beyoğlu's wine tradition in a historic high-ceilinged room. Turkish and international wines pair with meze, cheese, meat dishes and desserts; inside is quieter than the nearby İstiklal–Nevizade streets.
Violin sounds and calm background music match the historic room. Quiet violin recitals can be part of the atmosphere, while wine tasting and conversation take priority over regular concerts or dancing.
High-ceilinged, dim and full of nostalgic character. Away from the bustle of Beyoğlu outside, the room invites long conversations and unhurried wine.
A wine bar-restaurant preserving a Pera wine-house heritage dating to 1898, with a broad cellar, classic food pairings and its historic interior.
Wine lovers, followers of historic Istanbul venues, couples, small friend groups and visitors seeking a quiet Beyoğlu evening.
Relaxed but neat clothes work. Everyday pieces are fine; smart casual suits dinner or a special meeting.
Pano Wine House is a popular spot for wine in Beyoğlu, thanks to its historic and romantic atmosphere, a clientele that keeps things low-key, and an extensive wine selection. The house wines and staff recommendations are generally excellent, and the ground floor feels airier than the cellar. However, the dining experience is notably inconsistent; while certain pasta, salmon, meatball, and shrimp dishes draw praise, the cheese and charcuterie platters have been criticized for being small, carelessly prepared, and poor value for money. Prices are generally high, and service can be slow or rude on occasion. In the cellar, odors from the kitchen and drains can be bothersome. A visit centered on wine and atmosphere is a more reliable choice than a full dinner.
